Sharer's guide
Where to share your Cape Cellular referral code
Share it with people you know first. Then put it in a fair line, once: on cape.monster your Cape Cellular referral code is handed out again and again, nothing is cleared out every week, and a secret anti-cheat formula keeps anyone from quietly voting codes out.
The places that work
| Where | What happens to your code | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|
| People you know | Each one who signs up takes $20 off your bill, and saves $20 a month themselves. Cape says its family plan is the referral program. | Always, first. |
| cape.monster | You put it in once. It waits its turn in line and is handed out again and again to people looking for a code. No account, no email, no weekly reset. | Yes: set it and forget it. |
| Code sites that reset every week | Some Cape code sites clear every code after 7 days, or every Monday morning, so your code is gone until you add it again. | Only if you'll post it every week. |
| r/CapeCellular | Members have asked people to use referral code sites rather than tacking a code onto every post. | Read the rules first. |
| Reviews and comments that end in a code | The thing r/CapeCellular complains about. It reads as spam, and a code in an old post is easy to miss. | Skip it. |
Cape tells subscribers to share their code with family, friends, neighbors and even strangers online, so a pool of codes is exactly what Cape had in mind. Share your Cape Cellular referral code with the monster and you're done.
How the line keeps it fair
A pool is only worth joining if nobody can rig it. These are the rules the line runs on:
- Every code gets its turn. Each time the line goes around, every code in it gets one turn, in a secret shuffled order, and new codes join the next go-around. While your code is in line, no other code in line gets more than two turns between two of yours. Each turn goes to the next code in line, whoever deals it, so entering a code again never moves it up and nothing a visitor does picks which code comes next.
- A secret anti-cheat formula. Only people the monster handed a code to can say it doesn't work, each card once, with a quick human check, so no code can be voted out before it has been handed out several times. The formula decides when reports add up: it takes lots of people on lots of different networks (your home internet is one network, your phone carrier another), each network counts once, and a whole pile of VPNs and rented servers counts as one. We keep its numbers secret so cheaters can't aim for them.
- At most one code a day. However many reports come in, the monster removes at most one code a day, so a flood of reports can never take out the whole line at once.
- A second chance. A code voted out sits out a week, then comes back. Voted out again, it's out until its owner puts it back in, and until then the networks that reported it can't count against it again.
- Used-up codes step aside. Once a code has been copied or taken to Cape a lot by real people (a quick human check you never see), on lots of networks, it steps aside so other codes get its turns, and the line doesn't fill up with codes nobody needs. Its owner can put it back any time.
- Codes you report mostly stay away from you, so a dud rarely wastes your time twice.
What "handed out" means
Your code's turn came up for someone who pressed the button, and almost always they saw it. Whether they sign up is up to them, and the monster never learns who does: Cape's app shows your real referrals. Enter your code on the homepage any time to see how many times it's been handed out since it last went in.
Sharing without being the spammer
- One good place beats fifty comments. Put it in the pool once instead of adding it to every thread.
- Tell people where it goes. Cape asks for a referral code when you sign up, so it's easy to miss if they skip ahead. How to switch to Cape shows the steps.
- Past $0, keep sharing anyway. Once your bill is $0 Cape gives you nothing more, but the next person still saves $20 a month with your code.
Questions people ask
Where can I post my Cape referral code?
Anywhere: Cape tells subscribers to share their code with family, friends, neighbors and even strangers online. The easiest place is a pool like cape.monster: put it in once and it's handed out again and again.
Do I have to post my code again every week?
Not on cape.monster. Nothing is cleared out on a schedule: your code stays in line unless enough people on lots of different networks report it doesn't work (the first time, it sits out a week and comes back), or until it's been copied or taken to Cape a lot. Either way, you can put it back any time.
Can someone get my code removed so theirs comes up more?
Not easily, and not fast. A secret anti-cheat formula decides when reports add up: it takes lots of people on lots of different networks, every one of them handed your code, each network counts once, and a pile of VPNs counts as one. At most one code a day can be removed, and a code voted out the first time comes back a week later for a second chance.
How often will my code be handed out?
Every time the line goes around, your code gets one turn, and while it's in line no other code in line gets more than two turns between two of yours. Enter your code on cape.monster to see how many times it's been handed out since it last went in; once the site has dealt enough cards, it also says about how often a code comes up.
Does cape.monster know if someone signed up with my code?
No. It counts how many times a code was dealt, copied or taken to Cape's sign-up page, never who signed up. Cape's app shows your referrals.
